inro
The classical Japanese apparel, the kimono, had no pockets. Consequently, things that needed to be carried were held on a cord tucked under the sash. The best known accessory was the inro, a little box used by the affluent for carrying medication and seals. Inro are beautiful art objects, and they are widely collected today.
